10 Primer Dupes

10 Primer Dupes for all you ladies! Do you like to wear primer? I usually wear it only when I’m going to have a long day, instead of just 4-6 hours. I’m one of those girls who likes to take their makeup off as soon as I get home and I know I don’t have to go back out. It’s good for your skin to breathe!

I have  an uneven skintone and some issues with large pores around my nose, so I usually use a color correcting primer or a clear one that will fill in my pores. My current favorite is the Smashbox Photo Finish, but I’ve been meaning to pick up the Monistat Chaffing Gel since I’ve heard SO much about it and am damn curious to see if it works. It is supposed to be a gel with a powder finish, and that sounds about perfect for my skin. I like to use my elf Studio Tone Correction Powder over my foundation to make sure there is no more redness peaking through.

Let me know what your favorite primer dupes are!

5 MAC Eyeshadow Dupes!

5 MAC Eyeshadow Dupes

5 MAC Eyeshadow Dupes

I’m a huge fan of drugstore eyeshadows. Not only do they save a ton of money, but a lot of them are so similar it’s near impossible to tell them apart when you see a swatch side by side. I haven’t tried a CoverGirl eyeshadow in so long, but the swatch for Vanilla/French Vanilla was so close I had to include it. I swear by the WnW eyeshadows– just not their new matte line with the bold colors! Those ones are quite chalky. I prefer to use some sort of primer/base for my eyes- it helps the color pop, stops creasing, and prolongs the wear. I’m allergic to the Maybelline Color Tattoos (just found this out a few weeks ago…) and I’m now on the hunt for a new fav base. What’s yours?

Mood Matching Lipstick Dupes

Mood Matching Lipstick Dupes- Dior, Smashbox, Barry M

Dior Addict Lip Glow Dupes
Dior Addict Lip Glow

How many times have you heard someone talk about their Dior Addict Lip Glow? It sounds AMAZING, right? It reacts to your chemistry to give you the perfect “my lips, but better” color.

I want to try it so badly! But for $32.00?

Maybe I will test out a few of these mood matching lipsticks from some alternative brands first to see if I even like them.

Smashbox O-Gloss Dupes
Smashbox O-Gloss, Sheer Pink

It’s the same thing with this Smashbox O-Gloss. $24.00?

This is the Sheer Pink shade, but I’ve seen one in stores a while back that was Nior- a very dark plum color.

Pass. NYX makes them too!

NYX Mood Lip Gloss- Dupe for Smashbox O-Gloss
NYX Mood Lip Glosses

These ‘mood’ lip glosses from NYX come in 3 color transforming shades, and even a “Smile Brightener” shade. And they are $4.50. Much better. Lol, considering I will probably purchase all of these and then get over them in a few months? $4.50 is much more reasonable.

Fran Wilson Mood Gloss with Shea Butter Dupe for NYX and Smashbox
Fran Wilson Mood Gloss with Shea Butter

Mmmm! My favorite! I have the Orange Mood Matcher Lipstick (I’m in love- see below) and I am guessing these lip glosses will come out to be my favorite. If you click on the image, it will take you over to the Fran Wilson website where they have swatches on fair, medium, and dark skin so you can see which color to pick! Set of 3 for $10.00 or find them on eBay for cheaper.

Okay, so I worked at this random little boutique a few years ago. They mainly sold baby stuff, but they had a little beauty section too. I’m talking the weirdest selection of brands ever: Fran Wilson, Coastal Scents, Peter Thomas Roth Skincare, BeautyBlender, NUXE, Demeter Fragrances…. Just bizarre.

Anyways… this lady came in with her grandson and was poking around, and I’m not kidding when I say she SCREAMED when she saw the Fran Wilson MoodMatchers. I had no idea what they were, they just looked like cheap crappy weird colored lipsticks you’d expect to find a the Dollar Store.

When she checked out, she insisted on buying me her favorite color: orange. And then sat there and watched as I put it on and waited for me to see the color change happen. It takes a good 5 min before you really realize just how bright your lips are stained now. I love it! At least on me, the orange one turns NEON pink and lasted the whole day.

Barry M Lip Paint in Touch of Magic
Barry M Lip Paint in Touch of Magic

For those of you in the UK that want to try out something similar, try the Barry M Lip Paint in the green shade. It turns into an incredibly vibrant pink! £4.49 off their website

Robanda Mood Lips Blue
Robanda Mood Lips Blue

And for those in the US that don’t know where on earth to find Fran Wilson, this is something similar I found at Sally Beauty Supply. There are no swatches that I could find, or any information on the brand. But. Same type of a thing. I did see the display had 4-5 colors though, and that they were $3.49 or $2.99 with their card.

Fran Wilson Moodmatcher Luxe Twist Sticks
Fran Wilson Moodmatcher Luxe Twist Sticks

These are the newest from Fran Wilson, and I haven’t seen them anywhere but online. When I do though… I’m going to be all over it. They’re more pricey at $8.00 each, but they were in InStyle magazine and I want that “12 hour wear” it promises! By the way, this is the one I’m going to cast my vote for MOST similar to the Dior Addict Lip Glow.

Fran Wilson Mood Pearl

And lastly- they also make a Pearl formula that is shimmery. I’m not a fan of shimmery lips, but in case you are I wanted to include it too.

My Liebster Award!

Audrey at CremesComeTrue gave me the Liebster Award!

liebster awardIt’s a little embarrassing to admit, but I had to Google what on earth a Liebster Award is! Essentially, it’s a blogger to blogger award! There is no official website or moderator, you just nominate who you think deserves an award. The only stipulation is that you need to list 11 facts about yourself, and then answer the 11 questions from the person who nominated you.

Audrey at Cremes Come True nominated me for the award; she is such a lovely person! We’ve been tweeting for a while and this nomination came as a huge surprise, so thank you!

The award is supposed to be for smaller blogs that are starting out; but there is quite the discrepancy between the number of followers that deems you “small”. If you go back a few years to when the Liebster Award started going around, the number of followers was less than 3,000. Now, it seems, it is more common to nominate only those with under 200 followers. Since this seems to be a fluid concept, I hope no one minds that I go back up to 3,000. I know a few blogs that I love that fall under that category that I would love to see grow. (I went by either Twitter or FB followings)

11 Facts About Me:

  1. I’ve had the same best friend since I was 12. (I’m 23 now)

Sarah Williams- Creator of Lipstick Dupe
My sister and I routinely have “Sister Days”  where we go out and have fun- just the 2 of us!
  2. 23 is my lucky number, so I’m hoping this year will be one of my best!
  3. I found out that some German Shepherds are white, so naturally I became obsessed. I talked my boyfriend into looking at some puppies a week later, and I brought Zora home 5 weeks later. (Follow me on Instagram for regular pics of her! @sarahlovescoffee)
  4. I used to do my makeup every morning on the bus on the way to school!
  5. I wore bright pink lipsticks wayyy before it was cool.
  6. I’m completely obsessed with notebooks and journals.
  7. I’ve had 2 kidney surgeries.
  8. I just started to write/run Teal and Coral, a blog about DIY, Recipes, Beauty, Fitness, and Shopping.
  9. They thought my cat was a boy when they named her Wall-E and her sister Eva. I couldn’t bare to change her name when I got her though!
  10. I’ve been cutting my own hair for over 2 years.
  11. I want to start a YouTube channel, but I’m nervous!

Audrey’s questions for me:

Where is your favorite place to shop for makeup and why?

Online! I love me some online shopping. There is nothing better than pajamas, wine, a puppy in your lap, and shopping for makeup! My favorites are beautyjoint.com, ulta.com, coastalscents.com, eyeslipsface.com, cherryculture.com, and of course sephora.com! (none of these are affiliate)

If you could only buy products from one brand, which one would it be? (pretend $ is no object)

Ugh! Such a hard question! I think I would go with Tarte because I trust them as as brand. I’ve only tried a few of their products myself, but they have such high standards for their products- eco-friendly, cruelty-free, amazing lasting power, adorable packaging, etc.

What is your favorite foundation?

It’s a classic: Revlon ColorStay Foundation- Both the Normal and Oily Skin. I usually have 2-4 bottles hanging around in different shades/formulas.

When is your favorite time to write for your blog? Day? Night? What do you like most about blogging?

I write almost exclusively in the morning. I get up and make my boyfriend breakfast, lunch, and coffee;  take Zora out to pee real quick and then jump back in bed for some puppy cuddles. After I get up again, I feed her and Wall-E, and then come upstairs and blog. Everyday. Did you know I write for more than one blog? I also write Teal and Coral and a few business blogs. Teal and Coral is just getting started, but I’d love it if you gave it a follow!

I love everything about blogging, but if I had to pick what I like most it would be being a part of such a loving community!

Who is your style icon?

Lauren Conrad. Essie Button. Karissa Pukas. My sister. And a whole lot of strangers on Pinterest.

Do you love Pinterest? Why or why not?

Speak of the devil- It’s safe to say I’ve been OBSESSED with Pinterest since it was invitation only. It has helped me plan baby showers, weddings, outfits, Christmas gifts, Thanksgiving dinners, etc… Do you love Pinterest too? I have multiple accounts if you want to follow along!

What is your dream job?

It might sound lame, but this is my dream job. I’m currently telecommuting for a company doing their social media and new dealer accounts, and blogging. It’s the best. Eventually, I hope that blogging will become my full time job.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Hint: It’s a girl, and she’s super famous. Jennifer Lawrence! My boyfriend refers to her as my ‘girlfriend’ whenever he sees that she is in a movie we’re watching. We have the EXACT same birthday, but I can’t find what time she was born…. I could be a few hours older or younger.

What beauty trend do you wish would just stop and go away?

There is nothing that comes to mind.

What beauty trend would you like to see stick around or make a comeback?

I was so happy when colored mascaras started showing up in drugstores again! I know it sounds silly, but I love it. TIP: They show up best if you use some sort of a white mascara primer (like L’Oreal Double Extend) first, and then coat the colors on.

My nominated bloggers are:

One of the things I love the most about the internet and blogosphere, is that I can read ‘foreign’ beauty blogs! So, yes, many of my nominees are from outside the US!
